James (Yong) Kim - Founder and President
I was born in Korea where I attended and graduated from Kim Chun Dental Technology School. In 1984 I came to the United States to further pursue my career and attended Magna School of Dental Technology in Manhattan, New York, where I also received a Dental Technologist degree.
After receiving my degree, I went on to work in a Dental studio in Queens, New York in the Cosmetic Department for 5 years. In 1989, I opened my own Dental studio in Commack New York, where I worked in collaboration with Dr. Grayson, Dr. Enriquez, Drs. Gregg Lituchy, and Marc Lowenberg, well-known cosmetic dentists in Manhattan.
Through their patient's requests for a shade lighter than the commercial shade A1/B1, I was asked by these doctors if I could develop a lighter and softer shade of white. This was how my first project, Soonbeck shade was developed, a revolutionary shading system. The Soonbeck system was developed five years before other commercial brands and it has been used by many famous actors, actresses and comedians.
In 1998, I enrolled in a graduate program and obtained a master degree from The American Society of Master Dental Technologists at New York University. It has always been a dream of mine to develop a dental Technology which would benefit not only the rich and famous but the general population.
As someone who is continuously and diligently looking for new ways, ideas and challenges in dental technology, I have developed my second project The Tooth ID System.
After many years of research and 25 years of clinical experience in the dental industry, I am also working on my third project the Tooth Tattoo which is another innovation.
In 2008, I had became involved with Columbia University as a Advanced Prothosdontic Dental Laboratory Training Program Instructor. I am currently involved with Columbia University researching new viable products.
